CERA Solutions is seeking an Engineer III – Civil to perform various tasks associated with the Design and Construction of infrastructure projects. These projects vary in nature and range from highway reconstruction to civil site work. The Engineer III – Civil will lead the performance of these tasks in the role of a project engineer and/or project manager and will report to senior and executive CERA Solutions staff. Mentoring of younger engineering staff and management of staff in pursuit of completing engineering projects is expected. This includes guiding staff on tasks, mentoring staff on how to perform said tasks, and ensuring completeness of plans, specifications, and estimates of probable costs for projects. Duties and Responsibilities may include:
·Prepare engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and calculations;
·Perform on-site investigations;
·Utilize various CAD and engineering programs such as MicroStation, Open Roads, AutoCAD, Office365, etc.;
·Analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other);
·Conduct technical and feasibility studies;
·Ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety, etc. and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required;
·Exercise professional judgment when investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering related issues;
·Prepare engineering inspection, feasibility, and design reports;
·Provide guidance and mentoring of junior staff;
·Manage project schedules and budgets;
·Lead small, and possibly multi-disciplinary, teams;
·Report to senior and executive staff on resource needs and utilization;
·Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
·Four (4) year technical degree from an ABET accredited institution;
·Six (6) to fifteen (15) years of progressive design experience;
·Illinois P.E. required, or ability to get Illinois P.E. within 6 months;
·Experience in transportation, water resources or civil related design and/or construction inspection or management;
·Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise letters, memoranda, proposals and technical reports;
·Strong project management and supervision skills;
·Experience in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar and MS Office.
